Hello, I’m Maydelyn Mercado, an Independent Life Insurance Advisor contracted with Greatway Financial, based in the Winnipeg Office (Unit 190–1395 Ellice Ave., Winnipeg, MB). I am licensed in Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. I am also an RN who helps healthcare workers and young professionals protect their income, future, and peace of mind.
My journey in healthcare began in 2009 as a Nurse in the Philippines, and in 2011, my family migrated to Canada with the hope of building a brighter future. I started humbly as a daycare assistant, then continued to grow—studying and working as a health care aide, unit clerk, nursing assistant, and eventually becoming a licensed nurse.
With over 20 years in the healthcare industry, I’ve witnessed the true meaning of resilience, compassion, and perseverance. I’ve also seen something many people never talk about: how quickly life can change when someone becomes sick, injured, or hospitalized — and how unprepared most families are when it happens.
One moment that changed me forever was attending a seminar for retirees approaching their “Magic 80.” To my surprise, many were not financially, emotionally, or mentally prepared for retirement. Some didn’t even know that once they retire, their work benefits — including life insurance and disability coverage — end unless they pay to continue them. Imagine reaching retirement age and realizing you’re not ready. That moment made me say: “I don’t want to be someone who doesn’t know. I need to learn this.”
That realization led me to become a licensed insurance advisor in 2019.
Since then, I’ve learned so much about how financial protection truly works — and how many people, especially healthcare workers and young professionals, are left vulnerable simply because no one explained it to them in a clear, caring way.
Today, my mission is simple:
To help you understand your coverage, protect your income, and prepare for whatever life holds — without overwhelm, confusion, or pressure.
As I continue my journey I also discovered something deeper: Financial freedom and the ability to protect what truly matters extend far beyond the walls of healthcare.
This opened a new purpose for me — empowering others to build stability, confidence, and a future they can rely on. That is where MayLifeCare was born in 2025.
